The purpose of this performance test is to compare the performance of file copy operations to/from a NAS server using the Windows built-in XCopy utility and the DiskBoss data management utility. The performance test was performed between a quad-core client machine with 16 GB of system memory running the Windows 10 operating system and a quad-core server machine with 16 GB of system memory running the Server 2012 R2 operating system. The file copy operations were performed between two identical Crucial MX300 1TB SSD drives via the Gigabit network using the same data set containing 50,000 small and medium-sized files.
